Eli Dick, son of Adam and Temperance Dick, was born in Harford County, Maryland, Aug. 15, 1822, and moved when small to Ohio, where he grew to manhood. When a young man he came to this county with his parents and settled in the extreme southwest part of this township, where he lived until he was married in 1847 to Miss Jane, eldest daughter of the late Thomas Meharry, of this vicinity. He then settled in Tippecanoe County where he carried on the business of farmer and stock raiser for more than a quarter of a century. In about 1875 he moved to Philo, Champaign County, Ill., where he has since resided until death claimed him on Sunday last.  He joined the M. E. Church when quite young and was a consistent member during life. His remains were brought here on Tuesday and at 10 o’clock were laid to rest at the Meharry Cemetery on the old Thomas Meharry farm. Services were conducted by Rev. A. C. Geyer, pastor of Shawnee Church. - s
